Thank you for visiting my blog dedicated to promoting the idea of phone-tography. This is not to be confused with the platform partisan idea of iPhonagraphy. I **will** be showing off the industry leading capabilities of my Nokia Lumia 920, but the idea is that we all have these phones in our pockets that are capable of creating great images. Let’s get out and shoot interesting and cool stuff with them beyond our pets and meals.
I do own “real” cameras. My Canon DSLR is really just for work purposes these days. I don’t lug it around for fun or life documentation. I also have a Canon ELPH, compact point-and-shoot camera, but that get almost no use since I already carry my phone and it really is capable of handling most of my day-to-day imagining needs.
My “mobile studio” consists of the following:
- Phone: Nokia Lumia 920 (A Windows Phone 8 Device)
- Cam App: ProShot
- Primary Editor: Fhotoroom
- Alternate Editor: Fantasia
- Collage makers: PhotoGrid and Phototastic
- Panorama App: Nokia Panorama
- Immersive 360 Panorama: Photosynth
That’s about it. I won’t get into too many “filters”, just regular editing. I’ll probably play with brightness, contrast, color saturation, cropping, etc. If I want to make something really stand out, I might use a Tilt Shift effect. There will be no Instagram looking stuff on my page. I won’t go into it here, but I LOATHE Instagram. You can read all about passionate distaste for that service on my main blog (http://jeffdalydose.wordpress.com/2013/02/19/why-i-hate-instagram/).
So, that’s it. That’s what I’m doing and what I’m using. I think I will also have guest phone-tographers on here. Those images can come from any phone on any platform, but I will stick to the no Instagramming look in my selection criteria.
